Adobe Acrobat Reader
When we are doing design work for you, we email an Artwork Proof to you so you can see to scale and in approximate colour what your graphics will look like before actual production begins. The Artwork Proof is in a pdf file format which requires Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® to open and view. This free software comes with many other software applications so you might already have it, but if you don't it can be downloaded free from www.adobe.com
Contour Cut Line Colour Swatch for Decals
Our digital contour cutting system allows us to digitally print, then contour cut adhesive-backed vinyl decals into virtually any shape you want, without the additional setup costs or large quantity requirements of traditional die cutting methods. All our system needs, is for the cut line to be a complete vector path (i.e. drawn in Adobe Illustrator), with a special colour which lets the system know that this shape should be cut, not printed. Note that if you design your die cut lines on a separate layer, you must have that layer set to "Print" in the layer options (otherwise the cut line will be ignored and will not be cut)
To use this colour swatch, just download the "CAMM JET.AI" file, drop it into your colour swatch library in the appropriate folder for the software you're using (Adobe Illustrator highly recommended , but PhotoShop and QuarkXPress also usable). Then, in your document, select the vector path you want to use as a contour cut line (make sure your image bleeds 1/8" beyond this cut line), bring the contour cut line to the top of your design, give it no colour fill, but give it a .5pt outline and colour this outline with the CAMM JET colour.

Note: for contour cut decals, keep important content (e.g. text) at least 1/16" (preferably 1/8") from the cut line. There can be some minor distortion of the vinyl film as it's being printed, laminated and cut, so the cut line may not be in exactly the same position from decal to decal. The more space you allow between content and the cut line, the less noticeable the cut variance will be.
If decal artwork is not supplied to us as outlined here, additional charges will apply.

Templates
|
Here you'll find Adobe® Illustrator® and Acrobat® (pdf) templates to help designers create artwork so it's "ready to run", which saves us file preparation time and saves you money. You can either select the appropriate template name from the list below to view it online, or, save it to your computer. Make sure to build your artwork in the "Your Art Goes Here" layer or additional charges will apply.
The following terms are used in the templates:
- "Visible Image Area" - the live viewable space when the graphic is being displayed. When designing your artwork, draw a rectangle to the exact dimensions of the Visible Image Area, ensuring that no content goes beyond this rectangle.
- "Total Media Area" is the total print media surface that is required for the particular graphic. This can sometimes be the same as the Visible Image Area, but in the case of producets like banner stands or sign frames, for example, the Total Media Area includes the extra media needed to attach to the stand or go under the lip of the frame (areas where media is required, but is not usually visible when the graphic is displayed).
- "Bleed Area" - the extra space necessary to allow for when image elements bleed or extend right to the edge of the finished graphic. The amount of bleed required (if any) depends on the media and graphic type but is usually about 1/8" - 1/4" larger than the Total Media Area
- "Hem / Seam / Grommet Lines" - commonly in vinyl or fabric banners or flags that have sewn hems or seams or any banner with grommets, these are indicators of approximately where stitch lines or grommets will go on the finished graphic. It's important to know this so that stitching or grommets don't cross over fine type or important graphic elements. Stitching is normally done in the one colour which makes it least visible, but when it's crossing many different colours, it can become more noticeable. Hem lines are not applicable to banners or graphics with taped hems, of course, because there is no sewing and no stitch lines are used. But grommets usually are placed in the outermost 1" of the Visible Image Area of the banner.
These templates are for most typical graphics. Please discuss other sizes or specifics with us before designing the graphics.

- if your artwork is to be digitally dyed into fabric for the banner graphic, use the "Bleed Area" dimensions because we need some additional bleed when heat trimming polyester fabric.
- if your artwork is to be digitally printed onto vinyl material for the banner graphic, the "Bleed Area dimensions" are not used because we trim just inside the "Total Media Area" of the vinyl banner material. |
